Range Rules for Safe Shooting

General Range Rules
1. Dogs allowed only on restraint and at owners risk.
2. Alcoholic beverages allowed in designated areas for special events.
3. Persons under 18 years of age may shoot only when supervised by an adult.
4. Drive only on designated roads and park only in marked areas.
5. Competitive tournament shooting always takes precedence on all ranges.
6. Clean up your brass/hulls and pick up your trash.

Firing Range Rules
These safety rules depend upon: Common sense, courtesy, cooperation, and good sportsmanship.
1. The first participant on the firing line shall be the designated Range Officer or shall designate another Range Officer.
2. Range Flags are to be raised at the rifle and pistol ranges prior to doing any firing.
3. Guns must be carried unloaded with actions open and muzzle in a safe direction.
4. Eye and ear protection must be worn on the firing line when shooting is in progress.
5. No shooting at the target frames, glass bottles, cans or other objects. Target frames and cardboard are available in the rifle range shed, and Harold's Hut for the pistol range.
6. All commands shall be given by the acting range officer for that range who shall have complete authority for all range activity.
7. When changing targets or when people are down range, the line shall be made safe. All guns will be unloaded, set down with actions open, and NOT touched.
8. All firing on all ranges must be done in a manner to insure that all shots will impact in the backstop for that range.
9. On each range, fire only the type of gun for which that range was designed, i.e., handguns on the pistol range, rifles on the rifle range and so forth.
10. Shooting of fully automatic firearms is NOT permitted.
11. No tracer or incendiary ammunition is to be used.
12. All members must read and observe the particular safety rules and operating regulations posted on the range that they wish to shoot on.
