Range & Club Rules

 Shotgun Safety Rules:

  1. Keep the action open at all times.
  2. Keep the action open until it is your turn to shoot.
  3. Never load your gun until you are on post and ready to shoot.
  4. Never load more than one shell (two shells for Wobble Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays or 5-Stand).
  5. Always keep the gun's muzzle pointed down range.
  6. In the event of weak report or misfire, check your barrel for obstructions.  (Barrel sticks are available to clear the barrel.)
  7. Keep action open and gun unloaded when moving between the gun rack and the shooting station or when moving between stations,
  8. Never walk in front of another shooter when changing posts.
  9. Always use appropriate eye and ear protection.
  10. Alcohol and drugs which impair judgment shall not be consumed prior to or during shooting.  
Only shot sizes 7.5, 8, or 9 are allowed

 Rifle Range Safety Rules

A COLD Range:

  1. All firearms are unloaded; actions/cylinders open, pistol magazines removed and all shooters have stepped back from the benches.
  2. Person calling a cold range must check to see if all shooters are ready for a cold range.
  3. You may then call a cold range.
  4. No firearms may be handled while the range is cold.  Ammunition and magazines may be handled as long as the firearm is NOT involved.
  5. All shooters may proceed to repair or change targets.

A HOT Range:

  1. FIRST check and DOUBLE check to be sure no one is down range.
  2. Remind all shooters to put on ear and eye protection.
  3. You may now call the range hot and at this time firearms may be handled, loaded and firing may commence.
IF CEASE FIRE IS CALLED BY ANYONE AT ANYTIME ALL SHOOTING MUST CEASE, FIREARMS MUST BE PLACED ON BENCHES WITH SAFTIES ON OR CYLINDERS OPEN AND SHOOTERS MUST STEP BACK FROM THE BENCHES WITHOUT EXCEPTION

Reckless gun handling – two gun shooting, shooting from the hip, or spray and pray will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Only paper targets may be shot on the rifle range.  Targets must be affixed to a provided target frame, or range management approved frames.  Only one target may be placed on Club provided frames at a time, to prevent damage.  If your frame is damaged and cannot be reused, please throw it away in the provided dumpster.

 Pistol Range Safety Rules

A COLD Range:

  1. All firearms are unloaded, actions/cylinders open, pistol magazines removed and all shooters have stepped back from the benches.
  2. Person calling a cold range must check to see if all shooters are ready for a cold range.
  3. You may then call a cold range.
  4. No firearms may be handled while the range is cold.  Ammunition and magazines may be handled as long as the firearm is NOT involved.
  5. All shooters may proceed to repair or change targets.

  2. Remind all shooters to put on ear and eye protection.
  3. You may now call the range hot and at this time firearms may be handled, loaded and firing may commence.
IF CEASE FIRE IS CALLED BY ANYONE AT ANYTIME, ALL SHOOTING MUST CEASE, FIREARMS MUST BE PLACED ON BENCHES WITH SAFTIES ON OR CYLINDERS OPEN AND SHOOTERS MUST STEP BACK FROM THE BENCHES WITHOUT EXCEPTION

Although “draw from the holster” is permitted on the pistol range, anyone seen being careless or out of control is to be stopped immediately.

Only one target may be placed on club provided frames at a time.  This is to prevent damage to the frames.  If your frame does suffer damage and cannot be reused, please throw it away in the provided dumpster.
